About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and AtaForge Inc. (“Beamfy”, “we”, “us”) for your use of the Beamfy mobile app and the website beamfy.ai. By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
If you live in a country whose consumer laws give you rights that these terms cannot limit, those rights still apply.
What Beamfy is, and what it is not
Beamfy is an assistance app for blind and low-vision people. It uses artificial intelligence to describe photos, read printed text, identify products, find places and read walking routes, and it lets you send an SOS alert to a contact you choose.
Please read this carefully, because your safety matters more than anything else:
- Beamfy assists; it does not replace a white cane, a guide dog, other mobility aids, orientation and mobility training, or your own judgment.
- AI can be wrong. Descriptions, recognized text and product identifications may be incomplete or incorrect, may miss hazards, or may describe things that are not there. Beamfy tries to mention possible hazards first and to say when it is not sure, but it cannot guarantee that it will.
- Do not rely on Beamfy alone for decisions that could affect your safety or health, for example crossing a road, using stairs, platforms or water edges, or taking medicine. For medicines, always confirm with a pharmacist, a doctor or someone you trust.
- Navigation is a route preview. Beamfy reads you a walking route before you set off. It does not follow your position as you walk, does not detect obstacles and may not know about construction, closures or other changes.
- SOS is not an emergency service. The SOS button sends an alert with your location to the emergency contact you entered. It does not contact the police, an ambulance or any other emergency service. It depends on your internet connection, your location permission, SMS delivery and the phone number being correct. To prevent abuse, at most 3 SOS text messages are sent per 10 minutes from one account; the SOS alert itself is never blocked. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
- Beamfy is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition.
- Beamfy needs an internet connection for descriptions, reading, product identification and navigation.
Your account
You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law in your country requires it, to use Beamfy. You can delete your account at any time (see Delete your account).
Free use and Premium
- Free: after you sign up, you get 7 days of full access (one free trial per person). After that, you can use 5 descriptions or readings per day for free.
- Premium: Beamfy Premium Monthly (US$4.99 per month) and Beamfy Premium Yearly (US$39.99 per year) give you descriptions and readings that are unlimited for normal use. Prices in your country or region may differ and are shown in the App Store or Google Play before you buy, including any taxes.
- Fair-use limits: to keep the service available and fair for everyone, daily limits apply: 300 descriptions or readings per day with Premium, and 60 per day during the 7 days of full access. Daily allowances, including the free allowance of 5, reset at midnight in your local time.
- SOS is free for everyone, with or without a subscription.
- Billing and renewal: subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies.
- Deleting your Beamfy account does not cancel your subscription. Please cancel it in the store first.
- We may change prices or features of Premium in the future. Price changes are communicated by the store according to its rules and never apply to a period you have already paid for.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Beamfy for anything unlawful, or to harass, stalk or identify other people;
- photograph people, documents or places in a way that breaks privacy laws or other people’s rights;
- try to get around usage limits, overload or attack the service, or access other users’ data;
- copy, resell, reverse engineer or build a competing service from Beamfy, except as allowed by law;
- send false SOS alerts or use SOS to harass anyone.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, especially to protect other people or the service.
Your content
You keep all rights to the photos you take and the text you enter. You give us permission to process them, and to have our service providers process them, only to provide the service to you, as described in our privacy policy.
Third-party services
Beamfy relies on services from other companies, such as AI providers, Google Maps Platform, SMS delivery and the app stores. Their availability and accuracy are outside our full control, and their own terms may apply to you.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Beamfy available and reliable, but we cannot promise that it will always work without interruption or errors. We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a feature that is part of a paid subscription, we will tell you in advance.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Beamfy is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on AI output in place of your own judgment or mobility aids. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Ending these terms
You can stop using Beamfy and delete your account at any time. We may end these terms or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break them, with notice where the law requires it.
Apple App Store
If you downloaded Beamfy from the App Store: these terms are between you and AtaForge Inc., not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and, to the extent permitted by law, no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will show the date of the last update at the top of this page and tell you in the app about significant changes before they take effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which AtaForge Inc. is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
